The village where even today one can hear the echo of Parabrahma, the place whose every atom and particle has a glimpse of footprint of Balprabhu Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, the small village which became a playground of Parabrahma and the village whose lofty land attained the prominent place amongst the world class places of pilgrimage by allowing the Parabrahma to play in its lap and the place where our Lord Shree Swaminarayan took birth on Chaitra Shukla 9 Vikram Samvat 1837 is no one else but our pious Chhapaiyadhaam.
Village Chhapaiya is situated in Manekpur taluka of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. There is a grand temple of Lord Swaminarayan with beautiful carvings of stones in the village Chhapaiya which is just 20 kms away from Ayodhya. On instructions of H.H. Shri Acharya Shri Ayodhyaprasadji Maharaj this temple was constructed by Brahmnishta Saint Shri Mahapurushdasji Swami. On Jeth Sud 11 Vikram Samvat 1907, Shree Acharya Maharaj performed the invocation ritual in Vedic tradition of the idol-image of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj. Later on renovation work of the temple in marble stones was undertaken and accomplished by H.H. Shri Mota Maharaj Shree Tejendra Prasad Maharaj. Today the temple is shining brightly in the marble stones. This is a unique place of pilgrimage which is also a birth place of Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
To the west of the main temple of Chhapaiya is situated a bungalow type temple at the birthplace of Shri Hari. This temple is constructed exactly at the same place where earlier there used to be house of Dharmdev. An idol-image of Bal-swaroop Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj is installed.
There are so many places of Prasadi worthy to pay visit in Chhapaiya. There are Narayan Sarovar, Khapa Talavadi, Guyghat, Min Sarovar, Ambawadi, Triangle farm, Fruit orchard among many others. In short this list is indicative and not exhaustive. One can find the footprints of Bal Ghanshyam in every house and street of Chhapaiya village and the divine land is witness to it. It is impossible even for a world-tourist to have serene mental peace at any place other than Chhapaiya.
